# Download files

Files are downloaded through dedicated endpoints. This keeps file retrieval separate and ensures that access to each download is controlled through the Signable API.

Download requests use standard API [authentication](/authentication).

## Rate limits

Each download endpoint is limited to 60 requests per minute per API key. Requests beyond this limit receive a `429 Too Many Requests` response.

## Find identifiers

Use [`GET /envelopes/{envelope_fingerprint}`](/openapi/envelopes/getenvelope) to retrieve the document fingerprints and field IDs associated with an envelope.

Use [`GET /templates`](/openapi/templates/listtemplates) to retrieve template fingerprints.
