## Coming soon

On the 20th of October 2026, you will be able to automatically add the date a party signs a document, without requiring them to enter it manually. The new `date-signed` [tag](/tags) populates the field when the party signs and supports different date formats.

Nothing changes for you before then, and existing `date` tags are unaffected.

### Signing dates

You will be able to use the `date-signed` field type:

```text
{date-signed:signer1:Signed+Date}
```

The signer cannot edit the field, so it is always completed and the optional marker `?` has no effect.

### Date formats

Adding the `f=` option will let you choose how the date is written:

```text
{date-signed,f=mm/dd/yyyy:signer1:Signed+Date}
```

| Preset | Example |
|  --- | --- |
| `dd` | 31 |
| `mm` | 01 |
| `yyyy` | 2026 |
| `dd/mm/yyyy` | 31/01/2026 |
| `mm/dd/yyyy` | 01/31/2026 |
| `dd-mm-yyyy` | 31-01-2026 |
| `mm-dd-yyyy` | 01-31-2026 |
| `yyyy/mm/dd` | 2026/01/31 |
| `yyyy/dd/mm` | 2026/31/01 |

Examples show 31 January 2026. The option and its value are not case-sensitive, and a preset we do not recognise falls back to `dd/mm/yyyy` rather than failing the upload. Formats apply to signing dates only.
