# Authentication All [plans](https://www.signable.co.uk/plans/) with the exception of Pay As You Go, allow access to our API. To make requests to the Signable API, you’ll need to authenticate using **Basic HTTP Authentication**. - Signable uses your API key as the Basic Auth username. - The password can be anything — it isn’t checked. We recommend using `x` for convenience. Your HTTP client should send an `Authorization` header like: ``` Authorization: Basic ``` Where: - `API_KEY` = your Signable API key - `x` = a placeholder password (always accepted) ## Create your API Key 1. Log into the Signable web app. 2. Go to Company Settings → [API & Webhooks](https://signable.app/company-settings/developer). 3. Select "Add API Key", add a Name and select Save. API Key button 1. All calls must be passed to us via HTTPS. All HTTP calls will be ignored. We currently support [TLS](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Glossary/TLS) 1.2 and higher.
